Reasons for Land Reclamation
Land reclamation is basically the steps that are taken to have land that has been used or so disturbed restored to usefulness. By far and large, you will realize that land reclamation happens to be such an important part of the industries such as construction, mining, forestry and agricultural industries thanks to the fact that they are some of the industries that make use of some of the heavy earthmoving machineries that cause such a great disturbance to the top soil. Land reclamation is important for the sake of not just making the environment flourish once more but they as well are necessary so as to ensure that the land becomes once more useful for these industries. Like we have seen above, land is used for various purposes such as for the raising animals and growing food, extracting natural resources through mining, and growing and harvesting trees, build structures, et cetera.
Land reclamation is a process that has been with us for quite some time, in fact dating back centuries. And by far and large, we appreciate and duly need to acknowledge the reasons for land reclamation looking at the need to have a sustainable environment and as well for the health of the wildlife that depend on such an environment. As a result of the effects of human activity on land such as farming and mining, construction and forestry, with the use of the heavy earthmovers that have such a negative effect on the soil, vegetation and the other elements of wildlife that depend on these will not be able to blossom. Some of the other reasons why land reclamation will be necessary will be such as where beaches require restoration. The effects of wind and water erosion often carry such an impact on the beach sediments and as such for the sake of making sure that these areas are well maintained, some alternative methods must be sought as a matter of need and urgency.
The farming industry is as well another of the industries that will find it important to have land reclamation processes. The farmers will always restore their wetlands and the marshes by having them drained of the water logging them. Thus we see that by the land reclamation efforts, these parcels of land that were at one time so unusable will as such be turned into useful parcels that will be used for the production of agricultural produce such as fruits and vegetables.
